The power and potential of parks

Amalie is an architect and landscape architect, passionate about achieving positive change through good design. In 2007 she was awarded the mecu Travel Bursary, awarded by Brisbane’s Centre for Subtropical Design, enabling her to study the changing role of city parks in Colombia and the United States. She was subsequently commissioned by CSIRO Publishing to develop her research into a book, and Future Park: imagining tomorrow’s urban parks was published last year. For nearly 20 years Amalie has worked across many project types and scales, from public art and furniture, to residential developments and parkland, resort hotels, commercial precincts and transport infrastructure. She is now enjoying the challenge of running her own company, Landscapology. Amalie sits on the Queensland Executive of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, and tutors in design at QUT.
