Disrupting education with traditional knowledges
If variety is the spice of life, then Andrew Fa’avale must love spices.
Andrew has worked as a mediator, practiced as a lawyer, played and coached rugby, worked with young offenders and is currently employed as an equity practitioner and researcher at QUT. These roles have blessed him with the opportunity to live in a diverse range of places such as Samoa, England, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand and Australia.
Outside of work, Andrew co-founded MANA Community Mentoring Inc., a community organisation that seeks to foster the strengths, abilities and options of youth for positive engagement in the community. Based in Logan City, MANA runs mentoring and cultural identity programs in schools and the community. He also consults on cultural competence through 3 Wise Group (www.3wg.com.au).Andrew holds a law degree and is working towards a masters degree in education at Griffith University. He is inspired by his wife Nicola who is an awesome mother to their amazing daughters Auro Atelina and Felani Pepe Ta’otoga, while completing her PhD.
Andrew Fa’avale is a Samoan by blood, Kiwi by birth and Aussie by choice.
